Why don’t we include Ferrite Core or Suppressors on 5140 or 5170 kits?
Ferrite cores are ceramic magnetic bodies consisting of ferrites (soft ferrites) processed into various shapes. Formerly, coils were often made by winding conducting wires around a ring-shaped ferrite core, so ferrite used for noise countermeasures is likewise called a ferrite core, so as per structure, there’s a built in ferrite.
Quad Ethernet Module (QEM) 5140 (72EE) and 5170 (72EE2), have a ferrite 0805 which is a ferrite bead. Ferrite beads prevent electromagnetic interference (EMI) in two directions: From a device or to a device. It suppresses high-frequency electronic noise in electronic circuits.
Ferrite core was previously provided on the 5150 for compliance with European EMF standards. The current 72EE and 72EE2 falls within the acceptable range of those standards thus there is no need to provide the ferrite.
