Many inexpensive photocells do not have built in "snap action" to send a full momentary signal to an electronic device; instead, the control line voltage may be applied gradually, providing insufficient voltage for the coil to operate effectively until full voltage is available. ASCO strongly recommends using an accessory 47 for use with photocell control to prevent this phenomenon.
